1. Great job to the Sunny Hills Girls Tennis team as they started the season 1-0 against Oxford Academy yesterday. The Lady Lancers were led by Senior, Maya Orton who dominated all 3 of her singles matches. The Lady Lancers were led by their superior doubles teams of Seniors, Cambria Dominguez, Julianne Tubiera, and Ashley Kang, Juniors, Sydney Odipo, Ella Ward, and Sophomore, Angie Lee. The doubles won all their matches vs Oxford Academy. The Lady Lancers will look to go 2-0 today against Brea at home. Come out to the tennis courts at 3pm today to support and cheer on your girls tennis team. Scan in on 5star for points. Lets go Sunny Hills! 

2. Cross Country has their season opener this Friday at Trabuco Hills HS. Good luck Cross Country! 

3. Girls Varsity Volleyball travels to Hawaii this week for the Hawaii Island Labor Day Classic, good luck Lancers! 

4. Seniors, this one’s for you! Don’t be the only one in the yearbook without a senior portrait! You have until November 14 to get yours taken, but don’t wait—slots fill up fast! Follow the Helios yearbook Instagram, @shhshelios, for more information on the scheduling process. Make sure you get your moment in the yearbook before it’s too late!

5. A galaxy far far away is calling all Lancers to the 2026 Homecoming Dance...A Night in Naboo, held on Sept 19. Come dance, take pictures in the photo booths, play arcade games, eat tacos, cookies & Yogurtland. Tickets are on sale now online and will be sold in person today at break in the Quad with CASH. Buy your ticket today, before the price goes up!

7. Student drivers; Remember that every car parked on campus needs a Parking Permit and staff parking is only for staff, not students. Come to Room 6 at break or lunch to buy and pick up your Parking Permit today. 

8. Gold Card holders- do you need your ID card printed as a Gold Card? Come to Room 7 during break, lunch or after school to get your Gold Card printed. You can still buy a Gold Card, which gives you free admission to athletic events, including football and basketball and it also gives a discount on items like Yearbook and Homecoming tickets.

9. Lancers, remember UC Santa Barbara will be in the library today after 6th period from 3:30-4:00pm! Seniors, remember to always bring your student ID to college visits so that in the event of limited seating you may receive priority seating if needed. If you have questions about upcoming college visits see Ms. Corona in the College and Career Center at break, lunch, or after school, and continue checking your school email for the weekly Guidance newsletter for updates on upcoming college visits! 

10. Good morning, everyone!

As September and Suicide Prevention Awareness Month begin, the theme for the month is Every Connection Matters.

Being there for one another does not have to involve something big. Connection can mean noticing when someone seems off, making space for someone who feels left out, spending time with people who provide support, or recognizing when it may be time to reach out for help.

Staying connected—to friends, trusted adults, the school community, and the people who are available to provide support—can make a meaningful difference.

Throughout the month, resources and activities focused on connection, support, and suicide prevention will be shared and hosted on campus. Students are encouraged to participate and explore new ways to connect with those around them.

Anyone who is having a difficult time is encouraged to remember that reaching out is also a form of connection. There is no need to wait until things feel overwhelming to talk with someone. Students can connect with a trusted adult on campus, friends, or family.

This September, the school community is encouraged to be intentional about noticing, supporting, and staying connected with one another.

Sometimes, one connection is all it takes to remind someone they’re not alone.
