AVID CLASS OF 2025
What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an internationally recognized program designed to prepare students for success in four-year colleges and universities. AVID students enroll in college preparatory classes, including Honors, AP and IB. AVID students also participate in extra-curricular activities such as, but not limited to, athletics, theater, art, band, dance, and agriculture.

- Have the potential and motivation to qualify to attend a four-year university or college
- Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Have the ability and desire to complete college preparatory/honors/AP coursework
- Are willing to commit themselves to completing daily homework
- Have regular attendance and good work habits
- Have appropriate classroom behavior
- Possess individual determination and a sense of responsibility
- Participate in extra-curricular activities and/or community service
- Desire a program that provides college preparatory skills and opportunities

- To develop students' academic skills so they may enroll and succeed in the most rigorous college preparatory, honors, AP and IB classes
- To improve students’ college readiness skills, such as note-taking, organization/time-management and reading/writing skills
- To ensure students meet the eligibility requirements of four-year colleges and universities
- To prepare students for SAT & ACT college entrance exams/AP exams
- To increase students' college/career awareness
- To assist students in the college application and FAFSA process
- To provide students with knowledge of scholarships and financial aid opportunities for college
- To provide students with personal mentoring

- Actively participate in collaborative study groups with college tutors
- Improve communication, writing, reading and inquiry skills
- Work on character develop and student agency
- Participate in college research & visits
- Develop organizational/time management skills
- Reinforce study/test taking skills
