Our mission is to serve our students and promote academic achievement, career development, and personal and social growth. The guidance team is dedicated to each student and works collaboratively with parents, teachers, staff, and administration to provide a positive school atmosphere.

Dropping a Class:

  • A student who drops a course (i.e. Biology to Drawing & Painting) during the first three weeks of the grading period may do so without any entry on his/her permanent record card. A student who drops a course after the first three weeks of the grading period shall receive an F grade on his/her permanent record, unless otherwise decided by the principal or designee because of extenuating circumstances. 

Changing Levels: 

  • Changing levels within a course (i.e. Honors English 1 to English 1) or among similar courses (i.e. Algebra 2 to Algebra 1, or Spanish 2 to Spanish 1 must be completed by the end of the sixth week of the semester. Level changes may also be completed at the end of the semester. 

Guidelines for Valedictorian Selection at Sunny Hills High School (established May 1995)

For a student to receive valedictorian, the following apply:

  1. Un-weighted 4.0 GPA
  2. 32 minimum Honors semester classes
  3. 8 minimum Honors semester classes in Senior year
  4. 10 minimum Academic classes in Senior year
  5. All A's and B's at 3rd quarter grade report in Senior year
  6. No Academic Honesty violations

Get to Know Us

Each student is assigned a counselor for the entire four years they attend Sunny Hills High School based on their last name.
Students may see their counselor before school, during break, lunch or after school.
Parents are welcome to contact their students’ counselor via phone or email.
Parents are strongly encouraged to utilize the online Aeries Student Information system to track their student's academic progress.
